Athlete Guide

Need to Know

Important information for all runners. Read through before race day — this covers course etiquette, gear, and what to expect on the trails.

Trails & Other Users
The trails remain open to hikers and bikers during the race. It is your responsibility to keep your head up and give way where necessary. The course runs in the same direction the trails were intended, so you'll be going with the flow of normal traffic.
Course Knowledge
The course will be very well marked, but it is your responsibility to know the course before you race. Study the route and elevation profile ahead of time.
What to Carry
At this time nothing is mandatory to carry. However, weather in the mountains can be unpredictable — please come prepared for anything. We strongly recommend bringing your own soft flasks or a hydration pack so you can refill at aid stations.
Poles
Poles are optional. If you choose to use them, be mindful of other runners around you, especially on narrow singletrack.
Headphones
Low volume or one ear only. Much of this course is singletrack. You need to be aware of other runners wanting to pass, mountain bikers, and wildlife. Pemberton is home to deer, bears, and cougars.
Dogs
Dogs are not allowed to accompany runners on the course. Dogs are also unfortunately not permitted on the soccer fields in the start/finish area.
Registration & Training Plans
Registration opens Thursday November 27 and closes midnight June 17, or when sold out. In 2026 you can purchase registration bundled with a custom Pemby Pounder training plan — crafted by race director Kristian Manietta, who has been coaching endurance athletes since 2006. See the training plans page or the registration page for pricing.
Volunteer
We can't host this race without volunteers — if your supporters are waiting for you to finish, why not have them help out? Sign up here.
